One way wind is a song written by Arnold Mühren . He wrote it for his band The Cats . Mühren got his inspiration for this song during a tour of Suriname and the Netherlands Antilles , when he firstsaw wind-blown trees growing with the wind.

The Cats

The Cats released it in the summer of 1971. It eventually became their best-selling record, although the single did not reach first place in the Dutch and Belgian charts. The single sold more than a million copies in Germany alone , earning it the Golden Dog . The single sold 130,000 copies in the Netherlands alone.  The song was first released on the LP of the same name and later several times on compilation albums.

The song Country Woman , written by Piet Veerman, appeared on the B-side of the single . Later, Country Woman also appeared as the B-side of the single Hard to be friends , which was produced by the American Al Capps .
